About Me
I’m a journalist who likes to tell stories about Africa, for Africa, to the world. Stories with nuance, context and balance. I mostly do this on TV right now; as a presenter and reporter for BBC World News. I like to write, my blog features African history, innovation and culture); and I’ve had the privilege of being asked to chair some amazing global conversations as a moderator.

2006
Graduated from Makerere University in Uganda with a first-class degree while working two part-time jobs – as a radio presenter, and as a graphics designer.
2009
Graduated with distinction from the University of Leeds, earning an MA degree in Communication Studies.
2010
Returned to Uganda and co-founded Blu Flamingo; a digital media management company that has now grown to service an impressive roster of clients in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Nigeria. Blu Flamingo prioritises identifying, training and mentoring young people with an interest in digital technologies.
2012
2012 Began my TV career as a news anchor at NTV in Uganda. I was selected the following year to host the Uganda chapter of President Obama’s Town Hall with Young African Leaders, which was conducted via satellite in a broadcast that reached millions of people.
2013
Joined Kenya’s most authoritative news channel, KTN, as a news anchor, and expanded my role to manage the news department’s social media strategy.
2015
Announced the winner of the first ever BBC World News Komla Dumor Award, a continent-wide competition aimed at “celebrating African journalism and finding exceptional talent.” During my 3-month tenure at the BBC in London as part of the award, I made significant contributions to a conversation I am entirely passionate about – narratives about Africa.
2016
Selected as one of two moderators for Uganda’s first ever presidential debate; a crucial political moment in the nation’s quest to deepen democracy. The debate was watched by millions across the region, and its hashtag became only the second Ugandan hashtag to make it to the worldwide Twitter trend list. Received the Women For Africa 2016 International Influencer award.
2017
Moved to London and began presenting ‘Focus on Africa’ on BBC World News TV Late 2017 Crossed over from BBC Africa to begin presenting global news bulletin ‘World News Today’ on BBC World News and BBC Four.
2018
Launched ‘In Business Africa’ on BBC World News as a lead presenter. The weekly programme looks at the economic trends shaping the continent's future and expands the dominant narratives of African storytelling by showcasing some of the continent's most prolific business stories to global audiences.
2019
Listed as one of 2019’s ‘100 Most Influential Young Africans’ in the media category.
2020
Listed again as one of 2020’s ‘100 Most Influential Young Africans’.
